The Wetform Dress
GOOD HOUSEKEEPING
BA Final Collection Look 2
Design and Construction by Arianna Stapley
The Wetform Dress was initially inspired by the vacuum of space. It aims to represent the societal pressures of performative domesticity and motherhood faced by femme-presenting people and those who menstruate. Inspired by latex breath play hoods - a fetish wear garment designed to reduce oxygen levels and suffocate the wearer and featuring exaggerated ‘birthing hips’ representative of the ‘perfect childbearing woman’.
This pieces was hand made utilising a combination of techniques and materials including leather wetforming, fabric hardening, hand sewing, leather machine sewing and welding.
Made from vegetable-tanned lambskins, copper interior frame, and custom made hip bustles.
